Streetlight Service Reporting Form
Enhanced Streetlight Service Reporting Proposal
Objective: The objective of this proposal is to streamline and enhance the process of reporting streetlight outages for the City of Madison. My proposed solution aims to provide a more user-friendly experience for citizens reporting streetlight outages while simultaneously assisting city technicians in accurately locating and addressing the problems.Â
Current Challenges: The existing streetlight outage submission portal has its limitations. For one, the form limits the streetlight issue to an outage. This may not be the case, as it could simply be flickering or completely collapsed after a heavy storm.
Secondly, users can find it challenging to provide precise location details using a text-based form. This can result in delays and inefficiencies in addressing reported issues.
Proposed Solution: My proposal would entail the integration of an interactive map feature within the reporting portal using Esri's Survey123 tool. This enhancement will prompt users to mark and input their exact current location on the map, aided by physical streetlight markers.
Benefits:
User-Friendly Experience: Citizens can easily mark the location of the streetlight outage on the map, eliminating the need to enter complex location descriptions. This enhances the overall user experience and encourages more people to report issues.
Precise Location Data: City technicians will receive accurate and easily understandable location information, reducing the time required to locate and address the reported issues.
Efficiency and Timeliness: The proposed system will result in faster response times and more efficient maintenance of streetlights.
